Sponsorship

Why become a sponsor?

Sponsorships for children

By sponsoring a school, you enable children from needy Tibetan families in northern India to attend school. These schools not only teach the traditional curriculum, but also Tibetan culture, traditions, and Buddhist philosophy.

How can I help

Our association members Brigitte and Ingomar – themselves sponsors of a girl – organize and manage sponsorships for needy children, nuns, monks, and the elderly. They are supported by our valued friend and partner, Mr. Karma Lhundup, who lives in Dharamsala in northern India and oversees numerous aid projects in the region.

By becoming a sponsor, you can support a child from our sponsorship program for a year. Your help not only finances their schooling but also enables the family to purchase school supplies and cover the basic needs for a structured daily life.

Feedback from a sponsoring family

"Brigitte and her family have been my daughter's godparents for nine years. They have helped us with my daughter's school fees and pocket money. As we are a family of four with only one source of income, their help has been and continues to be a true relief. We are infinitely grateful for their support. Every day we pray for the well-being of Brigitte's family."

Contact the sponsored child: There are opportunities to establish contact. Often, the children—or their parents, if the child is still too young—send letters to express their gratitude. This has led to many pen pal relationships. Some sponsors also take the opportunity to visit their sponsored children in their home countries—as Brigitte and Ingomar have already done.

The support contribution for one child is 270 EURpro Jahr.

Sponsorships for Tibetan Buddhist nuns, monks and elderly people

Since our association is deeply connected to Tibetan culture, together with Mr. Karma Lhundup we organize sponsorships not only for children, but also for nuns, monks, and elderly people.

By sponsoring Tibetan Buddhist nuns or monks, you support their very modest livelihood for a year.

Nuns and monks, dedicated to a peaceful and simple life in the monastery, live in very simple conditions and share what little they have with everyone who enters their cell. Their work in the monastery leaves them no opportunity to earn an income - they rely on donations from visitors and others.

For older Tibetans, who had to leave their families behind when fleeing Tibet, the loss of their ability to work often means a life on the streets. Without family support and care, they are left with only a life of poverty.

The support contribution for an adult is 300 EUR per year.

Our club members work on a voluntary basis, so the full amount (except for a small bank fee for the transfer) goes to the sponsors.

Please contact our members Brigitte and Ingomar Illetschko by phone or in writing, e.g., by email. If you have any questions, they will be happy to help. Once you have chosen a child or adult from our program, you will receive all the necessary information about the next steps. We will be happy to arrange a sponsorship for you.

The payment is a one-time payment and is not subject to any further obligations. You are welcome to continue sponsoring the child, nun, monk, or elderly person in the following year.

We would be very happy!
